How to plan a week of social media posts from one goal
By the BrandForge team · Updated · 2 min read
The short answer
Pick one goal for the week, turn it into seven post ideas that each make one point, give each day a different format, and write them all in one sitting. Schedule them once, then spend the week answering comments instead of writing. BrandForge’s free Schedule tool writes and posts the week from your goal.
One goal per week
A week of posts that all push the same goal (a launch, an offer, an event, more bookings) reads as a story. A week of unrelated posts reads as noise. Write the goal in one line before anything else.
A week that works
| Day | Format | Job |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Tip or how-to | Be useful first |
| Tuesday | Carousel | Explain one idea in a few slides |
| Wednesday | Behind the scenes | Show the people and the work |
| Thursday | Proof | A result, a review or a before and after |
| Friday | Offer or announcement | Ask for the action |
| Saturday | Poll or question | Start a conversation |
| Sunday | Quote or recap | Close the week, point to what is next |
One idea per post
Every post should make one point and ask for one thing. If a draft needs two calls to action, it is two posts. Short lines read better on a phone than long paragraphs.
Write in one sitting, schedule once
Writing seven posts at once keeps the voice consistent and takes far less time than seven separate sessions. Schedule them all, then use the week to reply to comments and messages; replies are where followers turn into customers.
In BrandForge, Schedule writes the week from your goal, lets you drag a post to another day, and posts to the networks you connect. Set your brand kit first and every post comes out in your voice.
Look at the numbers once a week
Check which formats got replies and saves, not only views. Keep what worked for next week and change one thing at a time. Scheduled and sent shows the public numbers each network shares for your posts.
Questions people ask
- How many times a week should a small business post?
- As often as you can keep up with replies. Five to seven posts a week on one or two networks beats one post a day on six networks you never check.
- Which networks can BrandForge post to?
- Schedule posts to the networks you connect, including WordPress, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Bluesky and Mastodon; others show as soon on the Schedule page.
- Is the Schedule tool free?
- Yes. The tools are free and basic. When you want a person to run your content, you can hand it to the team as a task.
